I was saddened by the untimely death in 2011 of the Reverend Peter J. Gomes, Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and long time Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church at Harvard University. He died on Monday evening after suffering a brain aneurysm and heart attack at the much-too-young age of 68. There’s an obituary in Havard Gazette.

I have read and re-read his The Good Book: Reading the Bible with Mind and Heart and especially Sermon Biblical Wisdom for Daily Living. In all he has eleven volumes of wonderful published sermons.

Much more will be told of this remarkable and courageous man.
