Prayers on Trinity Sunday

Lord hear our prayer,
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
God of mystery, long ago the church learned that you are three in one-Creator, Redeemer, and Giver of Life-yet one God, that to see Jesus was to see the Father, and that he is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Help us to understand what this wonderful mystery means for us today. Help your worldwide church to present eternal truths in today’s language; to struggle with challenging ideas, and explore ancient concepts with integrity.
Lord hear our prayer,
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
Trinitarian God, you are a God of diversity, not confined by the limits of our understanding.
As we pray for the world, we are saddened that religious ideas-even, in the past, about the Trinity-have been used for hatred and conflict, among Christians, among Muslims, and between differing faiths. We thank you for healing of sectarian division in Northern Ireland; we thank you also for growing reconciliation between the Orthodox and Catholic. But now our own Anglican family is torn by disagreements. Lord, forgive us. Teach us right paths. Help us in your church to share diversity with division and unity without uniformity.
Lord, hear our prayer
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
We pray for healing in many lands where religion is used as an excuse for hatred-between Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq, between Buddhists and Tamils in Sri Lanka, between Muslims and Christians in Sudan, between Jews and non-Jews in Israel and Palestine. Lord have mercy, we pray.
Lord, hear our prayer
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
Gracious God, the giving and receiving of love within your being of Father, Son and Spirit teaches us to accept each other’s love and care. Strengthen us sensitively to care for the needs of others and ourselves. Touch and heal broken relationships. Heal and comfort when broken relationships are beyond mending. Help us to give our best to our families and relationships, as you give of your best to us in Christ.
Lord, hear our prayer
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
Lord Jesus, those who saw the Father through your ministry on earth saw a God who heals. Now you have sent the Spirit to be our Comforter and to give gifts of healing. Holy Spirit, heal those who suffer from illness, pain, grief, loneliness or any other suffering, we pray; we pray especially for . . .
Lord, hear our prayer
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
Father God, your Son told us that he would go to prepare a place for us, so that where he is-with you-there we would be also. As your Holy Spirit brings your presence to us now, we are confident that those we love who have died are in your presence. Today we thank you especially for the lives of . . . . and we ask for your special care for . . . .
Lord, hear our prayer
and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
